Mid 50's WFL Ludwig 'Festival Model School Concert' 15x6.5" in White Marine Pearl

A lovely drum, very rarely seen.

Yes, you read correctly… 15”!

3-ply mahogany shell with reinforcing rings.

Original white marine pearl wrap.

Original chrome over brass hoops and internal damper.

The drum came to me without an original strainer, so I have fitted a 60’s Ludwig P83. Whilst it isn’t quite an era correct strainer, it certainly better than the 70’s clunky P85.

The tension rods don’t all match but still do the job.

There is pitting on the lugs and the hoops show aging. Due to the size of the size, the wires have to be dialled in to avoid buzz, which makes the P83 strainer a little tight to switch on, and just needs a bit of encouragement like often is the way with these 40’s-70’s and on Ludwig strainers.

I used to own one of these drums and adored it. It recorded delightfully and tunes up very well. My example ended up going to a local studio as I wasn’t playing it near enough what it should’ve.

Once you play a 15” you’ll never want to go back to a 14”! You can get that low beefiness but by keeping your tension at a nice level for nice response!

Freshly stripped in my workshop, cleaned and polished. Fitted with brand new Remo Vintage A, Ambassador heads and Puresound wires.
