Late 50's Slingerland 'Gene Krupa Radio King' 14x5.5" solid maple 1-ply shell.

in original White Marine Pearl and Nickel hardware, both in very remarkable condition.

A Radio King snare's legacy is as legendary as their sound. Favoured by thousands of professionals and recording engineers worldwide, and for a reason. These solid 1-ply maple shells are a real treat.

This was the one of the last models that Slingerland offered in nickel hardware. The 1955 catalog specifically is the last time Slingerland gave nickel as an option. This would date the drum around this time, as well as the 'Chicago, Ill' badge dating it between 56-59. Therefore I have advertised the drum as late 50's.

Catalogued at the time as featuring "the beautiful new Slingerland Rim-Shot counter hoop - gives you the best stick protection and the strongest hoops in the industry - guarantees even tension."

At some point in the drums life, some parts of the strainer were lost and so the drum was drilled to fit a later Slingerland Sound King strainer. Now the drum is fitted with a 50's Slingerland Radio King strainer once again but some parts are chrome and aren't original to the drum. The chrome parts aren't so noticeable now I have cleaned up the nickel hardware. The extender lever on the strainer has been attached by a standard screw. An original thumb screw might be preferred by the new owner in order to fold down the lever to avoid damage during transportation, but I shall leave that to the buyer as it would soon increase the drums price.

Freshly cleaned up in my workshop and fitted with brand new Remo Vintage Ambassador and Ambassador snare side heads and Puresound Custom Pro Steel wires.

There is minimal seperation from the rerings, and new Remo heads fit as they should. There is a slight crack in the wrap but this is held securely by the top head.
