May 1965 Slingerland 'Deluxe Student Model' 14x5" in Grey Agate Pearl
6-lug design.
3-ply shell - maple (inner ply), poplar, mahogany (outer ply) with maple reinforcing rings.
Original hardware all round including: chrome over brass ‘Rim Shot’ hoops, Rapid strainer, internal tone control, butt end and tension rods.
Original scarcely seen Grey Agate Pearl wrap in great condition.
Niles badge with serial number #61136, and date stamped shell: May 65.
This is the first time I’ve had a Grey Agate Pearl snare in, and what a beauty this is, with minimal aging, scuffs and pitting.
Interestingly, these drums are catalogued as 5.5” deep, but this one left the factory slightly under 5”.
Being a 6 lug it is naturally great for some lovely fat tunings, but with these Slingerland rounded bearing edges, it tunes up delightfully too.
The original cork washer on the strainer had disintegrated (as they usually do), so I have fitted a brand new rubber grommet which works great.

Fitted with brand new Remo Vintage Ambassador and Ambassador snare side heads, with brand new Puresound Custom Pro Steel wires.
