1960s Ajax 'Nu Sound' 14x5" in Burgundy Ripple, often referred to as 'Raspberry Ripple'.

Manufactured by Boosey & Hawkes in Edgware, London.

Original chrome hardware including the impressive ‘A’ stamped lugs, internal dampener, strainer, butt end and hoops.

Tension rods are slotted; half of them are original Ajax, and half are Olympic by Premier but it’s hard to tell the difference.

There is a little bit of lifting of the wrap behind the strainer and some rusting underneath the lip of the hoops, but overall, the drum has cleaned up very nicely; I have attached a photo of the drum as it came to me for comparison.

The original strainer isn’t really the best design. It switches on and off perfectly fine, but the adjuster screw doesn’t appear to do anything. The new owner probably ought to be prepared to find a new strainer or drill holes for something else. I have priced the drum with this in mind.

Freshly stripped, cleaned and polished in my workshop in June 2023.

Fitted with used Remo Vintage Ambassador batter, brand new Remo Ambassador hazy and slightly used Puresound Custom Pro wires.
