1976 Ludwig 'Vistalite' 14x5" in Red (#1263164)

£395.00

1976 Ludwig ‘Vistalite’ 14×5” in Red

Blue & Olive badge with serial number #1263164 dating it to 1976.

10 lug design

Original red acrylic shell

Original chrome hardware including P85 strainer (missing black face sticker), steel hoops, butt end and internal dampener although the drum came to me with the larger adjuster thumb screw but this was a bit too close to the hoop so I swapped for a slightly earlier smaller adjuster screw so it is usable. Hardware shows signs of aging but no surprise, so does the drum!

The drum arrived to me with a crack after damage in shipping. I have since sent the shell to Carl Haffield, the UK’s acrylic drum expert, at AD Drums who glued the shell and cut edges as best as he could on these notoriously brittle shells.

The drum has a few patches where the shell has ballooned out. The shell is still round. I’m not sure what has caused this but it seems not to affect the performance of the drum.

I honestly thought this drum was destined for an ornament shelf, but I have been deeply surprised at how well it has turned out and performs.

Stripped, cleaned and polished in my workshop.

Fitted with brand new Remo Vintage Ambassador and Ambassador Hazy snare heads with brand new Puresound Custom Pro steel snare wires.
