Here we have a delightful duco set with matching snare.
The 22x14”, 13x9” and 14x5.5” were originally offered as the 'Ray Bauduc Swing Outfit'. The 15x12” floor was added later and was taken from the catalogued 'Club Date' outfit. I have attached photos of the relevant catalog scans.

13x9”
WFL badged.
Date stamp: Nov 13 1957.
Mahogany (inner)/poplar/maple (outer) shell with maple re-rings and bare mahogany interior.
Original nickel over brass hardware including nickel over brass hoops, tom mount and large Classic lugs.
Original blue & silver duco finish.
This drum came to me covered in what appeared to be disintegrated foam. This has cleaned up really well, but there is still some tarnish to the finish. There is also some snare rash.
Fitted with brand new Remo Vintage Ambassador and Coated Ambassador.
15x12”
Ludwig Keystone Pre-Serial badged.
Date stamp: Dec 15 1960.
Maple/poplar/maple shell with maple re-rings and original white painted interior.
Original nickel over brass hardware including nickel over brass hoops, spring loaded floor tom mounts, legs and bowtie lugs.
Original blue & silver duco finish in lovely condition.
Floor tom added later to complete the original outfit. This was quite common in the day.
The original floor tom legs that I photographed this kit with are quite short. I have since enlarged the mounts hole by 1mm to allow for a modern and longer legs. I have now switched to some straight legs similiar to the originals that are 7cm longer, and also have some modern Gibraltar twisted bottom legs available which are 15cm longer than the originals so the new owner can have the floor set to suit all heights.
Fitted with brand new Remo Vintage Ambassador and Coated Ambassador.
22x14”
WFL badged.
No date stamp.
Mahogany (inner)/poplar/maple (outer) shell with maple re-rings and bare mahogany interior.
Original nickel over brass hardware including large Classic lugs, rail mount, spurs, one cymbal holder and tension rods and WFL stamped claws.
Original blue lacquer bass drum hoops with original silver sparkle inlay.
Original blue & silver duco finish. There has been some moisture damage affecting the lacquer. I’m not sure what has caused this as the shell is not damaged otherthan some rusting around some of the internal lug mounting screws. The finish is quite extreme but the worst has happened and it really does add a unique finish to a wonderful kit.
There has been some paint touch up on the bass drum hoops and shell. Thankfully the original owner didn’t touch up the whole kick.
There is one cymbal mount holder present, but the arm is not included. The back of the mount has indented the shell slightly. There is also mounting holes for another cymbal mount underneath the tom placement but this is not included so the original holes are visible.
Fitted with brand new Remo Powerstroke 3 Clear and Ambassador Fiberskyn.
'Buddy Rich Model Super Classic' 14x5.5”
WFL badged.

No badge
Original internal dampener
Original chrome over brass “Rim-Shot” hoops
Leg mounts are slightly later design with thumb screws. There are some extra holes hidden behind on the inside
Wrap has less pearl pieces and is less vibrant. This is due to the wraps used for floor toms being a different piece of wrap to suit the depth of the shell. This is often seen in these finishes

Aug 1962 Slingerland 'The Modern Solo Outfit No. 2R' 20x14", 12x8", 12x8", 16x16" in Black Diamond Pearl
An incredible Slingerland set in original classic Black Diamond Pearl with all original chrome hardware in great condition.
These old Slingerland 3-ply shells are delightful, especially these mahogany ones, a real ‘if you know, you know’ vibe!
The Modern Solo Outfit bizarrely came with two 12x8” toms, mounted simply and iconically on a centre mount. They work really well and with the drums not featuring badges (something Slingerland did around this time), they are very true and resonant freely.
Overall, the shells, wrap and chrome work is in a wonderful condition with only minor pitting, aging and scuffs across the whole kit. The tension rods show their aging as often the case with Slingerlands of this age.
Please see photos for condition.
Freshly stripped, cleaned and polished in my workshop across April-May 2025.

Obviously there has been some paint loss over the years but what a look! A previous owner has filled in odd patches of green over the years and there is some strange patches that might have come from a soft case in storage, I’m not too sure.
1920s Ludwig ‘Theatre Model’ 15x5” Nickel over Brass
Legendary nickel over brass heavy two-piece shell - the same shell as the original Black Beauty but with nickel coating.
10 lug design.
This drum has original single flange hoops, claws, tension rods, butt end and strainer.
This drum came to me with contact paper wrapped around the shell with a painted copper bead, with most of the hardware also painted copper. Underneath the contact paper was a few layers of cream paint and underneath that was scratching to the shell. Of course, it’s hard to say what has happened and when, but I suspect the owner wanted a copper/gold finish so attempted to sand back the nickel to reveal the brass. When this didn’t work, I think they must have painted it, (or attempted to, a few times) but when that didn’t look good they wrapped it!!
It goes without saying, that whilst this is a rare drum, it is not a collectors example. There is scratching to the shell, exposed sections of brass, but regardless of what it’s gone through, this drum sounds absolutely delicious! There is a reason these two-piece brass drums are so sought after and these 15” models are really not often seen!
This is a 100 year old drum, as well as all the DIY that this drum has suffered, there is of course some minor aging. The nickel coating has worn thin on some of the hardware and so the brass does show through in places, mostly on the claws but everything works as it should.
Catalog scan from 1922/1923.
The last photo is as the drum came to me.

Freshly cleaned up in my workshop March 2022.
Fitted with brand new Remo Vintage Ambassador batter, a slightly used Ambassador reso and brand new Puresound Custom 15” wires.

1930s Leedy 'Broadway Standard' Model 15x6.5" (yup, 15”!)
Nickel over Brass shell with 8 lugs
Engraved hoops with ‘Leedy Elkhart, Ind.’ and ‘Broadway Standard’.
Nickel plated hardware including original double flange brass hoops.
This is a wonderful drum. I have never seen another in this size.
The drum has factory soldered-back bearing edges and crimped snare beds.
The lugs on this drum are aluminium so show their age more than if they were brass.
There is some minor scratching on the shell but nothing you wouldn’t expect for a drum that is nearly 100 years old. Minimal aging.
Stripped, cleaned and polished July 2025.
Fitted with brand new Remo Coated Ambassador and Ambassador Hazy heads with brand new Puresound wires.
1930s Leedy 'Broadway Standard' Model 14x6.5"
Nickel over Brass shell with 8 lugs
Engraved hoops with ‘Leedy Elkhart, Ind.’ and ‘Broadway Standard’.
This is such an incredible drum, one that rarely comes around. I actually sold this drum back in 2019 and I recently bought it back in, originally to keep but I can’t justify keeping it as it won’t get the use it deserves.
The drum has factory soldered-back bearing edges and crimped snare beds.
It’s an absolute peach.
There is some minor scratching on the shell but nothing you wouldn’t expect for a drum that is nearly 100 years old. Minimal aging.
This drum was originally cleaned for its sale in 2019. I have dusted it off, and photographed it as it looks now.
Fitted with slightly used Remo Coated Ambassador and Ambassador Hazy heads with some brand new Puresound Custom Pro Steel 20 strand wires.

Early 1940s Ludwig & Ludwig ‘Victory’ 14x6.5” in White Lacquer
Here is a truly fascinating piece of history and design around the time of World War II that I am proud to offer up for sale.
In 1941, when America entered into World War 2, metals such as brass and steel were quickly needed for the production of war related materials.
In 1942, the American war production board and US government ordered a reduction in the use of non-essential items. Newly manufactured goods such as musical instruments had to be constructed using only 10% metal. This led to the halting of production for brass and wind instruments and for drum companies, they had to quickly adapt their production. There was also lots of saving and using household metals.
Whilst the limitations and restrictions that were in place between 1942-45 created problems overnight for American drum companies, it did lead to some very unique and creative designs. Ludwig & Ludwig offered 'Victory', Slingerland had 'Rolling Bomber' models, Leedy had 'Dreadnaut', WFL had 'Victorious' and Gretsch had 'Defender'. In my research, I found these Slingerland receipts from 1945 and 46 from coopersvintagedrums.com that state 'We don't have any cymbals' and 'Only cowbell available is 3 1/2".
I also found out that in 1943, the sale of sliced bread was banned to conserve the metal blades. To me, I find it amazing that this drum exists. There are others around but not many.
This drum is date stamped 1941 (amongst another stamp that I can’t make out) , although it could have been assembled later. The catalog states the drum as using ‘minimum critical metals’ and giving ‘maximum performance’, as well as some pretty intriguing connotations.
The drum is 3-ply maple shell with re-rings finished in original white lacquer which has crazed/aged beautifully with minimal aging or peeling.
6-lug design.
There is no lever on the strainer to remove or engage the wires so the wires are permanently engaged.
The drum features no butt end and instead uses an ingenious way of attaching the wires.
Whilst the lugs are wooden, there are metal inserts and springs inside.
There is some seperation in the original hoops, I think this is from over tensioning old calf heads by a previous owner.
See photos for condition.
Freshly cleaned in my workshop in February 2025.
Fitted with brand new Remo Vintage Ambassador and Ambassador Snare Side heads.
Early 1940s WFL 'Professional Paramount 14x7" in original Blue & Silver Duco Lacquer
Legendary 3-ply shell - mahogany (inner), poplar, maple (outer) with maple re-rings.
All original nickel over brass hardware including Zephyr lugs, double flanged hoops, tension rods and butt end.
The strainer photographed in the catalogs is different to what is fitted here, but there is no extra holes. The strainer is original to the drum, it just doesn't match up with what the catalog says, but thankfully, the other strainer usually fitted is terrible, so this is a good thing. I have attached a few catalog scans for your reference from 1941.
The nickel plating has signs of aging (to be expected) and in some places it has worn away.
These old WFL drums, especially in this size, don't often crop up. I'm glad to have this up for grabs for a lucky buyer!

Fitted with brand new Remo Vintage Ambassador and Ambassador Hazy heads with brand new Puresound Concert 12-strand wires.
Early 1940s WFL 'Professional Paramount 14x7" in White Lacquer
Legendary 3-ply shell - mahogany (inner), poplar, maple (outer) with maple re-rings.
All original nickel over brass hardware including Zephyr lugs, double flanged hoops, tension rods and butt end.
The strainer photographed in the catalogs is different to what is fitted here, but there is no extra holes. The strainer is original to the drum just doesn't match up with what the catalog says, but thankfully, the other strainer usually fitted is terrible, so this is a good thing. I have attached a few catalog scans for your reference from 1941.
The drum has suffered some water/moisture damage. You can see this from the inside of the shell and this has caused the lacquer finish to flake and peel off on one side, as well as the outer ply has split around the badge.
The nickel plating has signs of aging (to be expected) and in some places it has worn away.
On the backside of the drum, a previous owner has touched up some scuffs.
These old WFL drums, especially in this size, don't really crop up. I'm glad to have this up for grabs for a lucky buyer!

1948-1950 Slingerland Radio King 'Hollywood Ace Swing Model' 14x7"
Solid 1-ply maple shell with maple reinforcing hoops.
Original ‘duco’ lacquer finish.
All original nickel over brass hardware including three point strainer, internal dampener, double flange Radio King stamped hoops and tension rods.
The drum shows signs of wear but is in great condition considering it’s age.
As often the case with old Radio Kings, the batter head is a little tight but does go on fine with some tension. The reso head fits fine.
There is some gaps in the reinforcing rings which is quite common for these drums.

Freshly cleaned up in my workshop January 2025.

Early 1950s Slingerland 'Student Model Radio King' 14x5.5" in original White Marine Pearl
Brass and Tan Chicago badge dating it to 1950-53.
3-ply mahogany shell with re-rings.
Nickel over brass hardware including original Rapid strainer with full extender piece, single flange hoops, tension rods and claws. Two hoop claws aren’t original.
The drum is in great condition for its age with no major aging, just minor to be expected aging. Please see photos for condition.
Butt end is missing the back plate, so wires are tied in rather than strapped in.
Stripped, cleaned and polished in my workshop in May 2025.
Fitted with brand new Remo Vintage Ambassador and Ambassador Snare Side heads with brand new Puresound Custom Pro snare wires.
1950s Slingerland 'Bop' 13x4.5" in Aqua Sparkle Pearl
3-ply mahogany, poplar, mahogany shell with maple reinforcing hoops
6 lug design
Nickel over brass hardware including three point strainer, internal dampener, double flange hoops and butt end. Strainer is missing extention piece but still works.
These drums are scarcely seen and are very cool.
Catalog image from 1959. Snare drum looks to have been part of the 2-piece 'Combo-Be Bop' configuration which consisted of 20x18" kick and 13x4" snare so I’ve always known these as the ‘Bop’ model, but this isn’t fully official.
The lugs haven’t been drilled and mounted in the centre of the drum, which means the batter tension rods are dialled in closer than they probably should - because of this, I have switched to modern tension rods to allow for more tension before the original tension rods ran out of thread.
Freshly cleaned in my workshop October 2024.
Fitted with brand new Remo Coated Ambassador and Ambassador Snare Side heads with brand new Puresound steel wires.
1953-56 Slingerland 'Student Model Radio King' 14x5.5" in original White Marine Pearl.
3-ply maple shell with reinforcing hoops
Stamped brass Chicago badge, dating the drum to 1953-56.
Original chrome hardware including ‘rim-shot’ brass hoops, complete 'rapid' snare strainer, tension rods, internal dampener lugs and butt end.
The drum is finished in original white marine pearl which has mellowed beautifully over time.
The mounting screws for the butt end guard are not original.
The drum came to me in a bit of a state (see last photo), but has cleaned up delightfully !

Fitted with brand new Remo heads and Puresound steel wires.
Mar 18 1959 Ludwig Transitional Badge 'Supreme Concert' 14x5.5" in Blue and Silver Duco
Date stamped: Mar 18 1959
Transitional Badge
3-ply legendary shell - mahogany (inner) / poplar / maple (outer) with maple reinforcing rings.
All original nickel over brass hardware and original Blue and Silver Duco lacquer finish.
In the 60’s, the 6-lug wooden snare was marketed as the ‘Pioneer’ which is the much more common version. The Pioneer was 5” deep but the Supreme Concert the predecessor, is 5.5”.
Being 6 lug it naturally goes very fat, and I think the extra depth really does help too!
Original duco finish is on the whole in great shape but there is patches where it has flaked off, mostly beside the strainer.
Nickel hardware is in really nice shape. The strainer and butt end show their age with quite a bit of plating loss but they work as they should.
The last few photo shows the drum how it came to me, prior to being cleaned.
Originally left my workshop in 2020. I took the drum back in May 2025, stripped it, cleaned and polished again.
Fitted with brand new Remo Vintage Ambassador and Ambassador snare side heads and Puresound Custom Pro wires.
Aug 6 1959 Ludwig 'Legionnaire Parade Drum' Squadron Model 14x10"
3-ply shell - mahogany (inner), poplar, maple (outer) with maple reinforcing hoops.
8 lug design.
Transitional badge.
Single tension.
Original nickel hardware including strainer, internal dampener, single tension claws and rods, and butt end.
Original lacquer finish. I’ve not seen this finish before, it’s in great condition too. These drums were often used by colleges/universities, so the finish is probably custom for their official colours.
Dampener round adjuster is chrome but is era correct.
These drums are wonderful, and being the less commonly seen 8 lug version is significantly more versatile and valuable than the 6 luggers.
See photos for condition.
Freshly cleaned up in my workshop November 2024.
Fitted with barely used Remo Fiberskyn Ambassador batter and Ambassador Hazy, with brand new Puresound Custom Pro Steel wires.
See below for a video of this exact drum in action.
May 5 1960 Ludwig 'New Barrett Deems Model' 14x5.5" in Sparkling Gold Pearl
Transitional badge
Sized 14x5.5”
3-ply mahogany/poplar/mahogany with maple re-rings
Original Sparkling Gold Pearl wrap
Original chrome hardware including chrome over brass hoops and internal dampener.
The New Barrett Deems Model is what became the legendary Jazz Festival launched in 1960.
The drum came to me in a right old state. It was very grimey. I’m proud to say it’s cleaned up remarkably well, but where there was some graffiti/text on the shell, the history of this remains faintly. In some lights, it’s barely visible and at other angles it is. Still, it is a wonderful drum and priced accordingly. It’s a hell of a players drum!
There is aging and fading and some black pixels in the wrap as well as pitting/aging to the hardware.
Please see all photos of drum for condition. Last few photos are before photos.
Stripped, cleaned and polished in my workshop May 2025.
Fitted with brand new Remo Vintage Ambassador and Ambassador Hazy heads with brand new Puresound Custom Pro Steel wires.
Aug 16 1960 Ludwig ‘Jazz Festival’ 14x5” in Black Diamond Pearl
Transitional badge dates this to around 58-60. There is a date stamp which might say Aug 16 1960 but it’s quite hard to tell.
Legendary 3-ply shell - mahogany, poplar, mahogany shell with maple reinforcing rings and white interior coating.
8 lug design
Original nickel over brass hardware including original strainer, internal dampener, butt end, bow tie lugs, tension rods and hoops.
Original black diamond pearl wrap is in incredible condition for its age. As is the nickel over brass hardware. There is aging on the well used and touched parts like the strainer but on the whole, it’s very good.
Whilst this is a drum that was catalogued as 14x5”, there has been known irregularities to the depths. This drum is actually more like 5 1/4th deep.
In both hoops there is a slight crack appearing. I have priced this drum down in the event that the new owner wants to switch out the hoops.
There is one chrome Ludwig tension rod from the 60s.
See all photos for condition.
Freshly cleaned in my workshop in October 2024.
Fitted with slightly marked from storage but new Remo Vintage Ambassador and Ambassador snare side and brand new Puresound Custom Pro steel wires.
Sep 1 1960 Ludwig 'Legionnaire Parade Drum' Squadron Model 14x10"
Date stamped: Sep 1 1960
3-ply shell - mahogany (inner), poplar, maple (outer) with maple reinforcing hoops.
8 lug design and single tension design.
Transitional badge.
Original nickel hardware including strainer, internal dampener, single tension claws and rods, and butt end.
Original rare lacquer finish. These drums were often used by colleges/universities, so the finish is probably custom for their official colours.
These drums are wonderful, and this one being the 8 lug version is significantly more versatile and valuable than the 6 luggers.
The hardware has previously been very rusty and they show their age with lots of nickel worn away and rusting marks still present. Not to mention the obvious paint loss.
There is what I presume is original paint splatter on the inside of the shell, as well as a paper tag that might've been added from a previous owner.
See photos for condition.
Freshly cleaned up in my workshop February 2025.
Fitted with used Remo Ambassador X batter and Ambassador Hazy, with Puresound wires.
Vintage Ludwig Pressure Bass Drum Muffler
This muffler is probably from the early 60s.
This muffler is mostly original nickel over brass but there is some later chrome parts added. The tension of the muffling isn't adjustable like the usual ones I sell of these, but still works great.
Some aging to be expected.
Engraved Ludwig stamping.
Felt is in great shape.
Works all as it should.
Worldwide shipping is available. Please get in touch for a quote.
1960s Slingerland 'Deep Hand Bongos' 6"x10" & 8"x10" in Black Sparkle Pearl
These bongos have been stripped, cleaned and polished. They have cleaned up nicely. Some of the wrap on the centre wooden beams has lifted in places, or is missing.
The heads I believe are original and are well used but still function. One of the heads has worn through a bit.
Catalog scans are from 1968 but these were advertised all throughout the 60s.
You’d struggle to find another set of these in this finish. The kits in this finish are rare. The bongos even rarer!
The stand is included with the sale. I’m not sure how original the stand is and how good it is but it does seem to function.
Vintage Ludwig Adjustable Bass Drum Muffler
This muffler is probably from the early 60s.
All original.
Some aging to be expected with some delightful patina.
Engraved Ludwig stamping.
Felt is in great shape.
Works all as it should.
Worldwide shipping is available. Please get in touch for a quote.
1940's Leedy 11x7" single tensioned tom in Black Pearl
I suspect this was originally part of an 'Improved New Yorker’ outfit
No tom mount included, but holes still remain. In the absence of a tom holder, the tom has been used in a snare stand basket which has chipped some of the wrap.
Original NOB hardware.
Fitted with Remo Coated Ambassador and tacked bottom.
Please see photos for condition.

Index Drums Shaker - Hoppy
All the way from Louisiana, USA; Index Drums Shakers are the original steel can shaker made from vintage beer and soda cans from a bygone era.
The 12oz is the perfect size to throw in a stick bag. They are much more durable than modern cans, with thicker walls and a stronger shape.
The Hoppy has a crisp tone, with medium attack and volume; rich metallic sound and good control.
The Smooth is much quieter than the "hoppy", and more suited for small venues. This is on the softer side, but with the same metallic flavor. Similar fill to the ever-popular egg shaker.
The Stout is a wild organic shaker with tons of personality. It kind of tumbles along, crunching it's way through your tracks, making everything a little better.
The Pony is similar to the Hoppy, but without the metallic attack and a little lower volume.
The Bonzo is a rowdy metal maraca. Lots of action, lots of energy, plenty of volume. If the Smooth is a 3 and the Hoppy is a 7, the Bonzo's is an 11.
Due to the age of these cans, they can show aging and have minor dents. This is all part of their charm and is to expected and celebrated.
Shakers will be posted with Royal Mail Tracked 24. Orders aim to be dispatched within 1-3 working days.

Index Drums - HardHat
The HardHat gives you adjustable sounds like a closed Hi-Hat, but fits in a stick bag and mounts easily.
The Index HardHat is made from 4 pieces of metal, stacked interchangeably to provide a sound as loose or as clicky as you want. Handmade in Louisiana and made using a variety of beautiful woods for the block, all sealed in a durable clear finish, so find a grain that speaks to you go for it! The wood doesn’t change the sound, but the strip options do!
Every HardHat comes with 4 strips, 2 of flat steel, 1 of heavier perforated steel for rigidity, and one of separated steel for activity. Rearrange them until you find the sound you’re looking for.
The HardHat will mount:
On the end of a standard cymbal stand or boom stand (with or without cymbal)
Stacked on another cymbal with a Gibraltar SC-MCSA4 or similar
Using an LP373 woodblock mount and clamping it to a percussion rod
Using an LP Jamblock screw-on bracket and clamping it to a percussion rod

Early 1950s Slingerland 'Gene Krupa Deluxe Radio King Ensemble 1N'
Sized 24x14”, 13x9”, 16x16"
3-ply mahogany shells with reinforcing rings
Original Black Diamond Pearl wrap
Chrome over brass hardware
This is an incredible opportunity to own a remarkable kit. These kits are incredibly sought after and are well respected in studios across the globe. The last set of these I had are now homed at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios.
The 1951 catalog reads: 'The Gene Krupa Outfit is the same outfit Gene Krupa uses with his band except that Gene uses an extra 20x16" tom tom.' Well, if it was good enough for Krupa, then...!
Brass & Tan Chicago badge dates to 1950-1953. The 1951 catalog (black and white) scan shows a different tom mount system, and the 1955 catalog shows the usage of the newer lugs, so I’d roughly date this kit 1952-1954. The finishes catalog scan is from 1953.
13x9”
Original chrome over brass engraved hoops
Original internal damper
Two hidden extra holes under tom mount. I think these might have been already drilled in from the earlier tom mount system but hadn’t left the factory so the newer mount was added.
There is a very small circular dent at the front of the tom and a few scratches at the bottom.
Signed ‘Charles Ross’ on the inside and there is another signature which might be from the factory but that is illegible.
Fitted with Earthtone batter with Remo Clear Ambassador reso
16x16”
Original chrome over brass engraved hoops
Original internal damper
Nickel leg mounts with two thumb screws that don’t match the first but work as they should
Bottom 8 tension rods are longer but are era correct Slingerland
Fitted with Earthtone batter with Remo Clear Ambassador reso
24x14”
Original chrome hardware with some nickel fittings
Brass & Tan Chicago badge
Rail mount is complete but isn’t (unsurprisingly) amazing by modern standards. The tom rests on the mount. Some chrome from the rail has worn away.
Two cymbal mounts are present but no extra hardware in included to use these.
Signed ‘Charles Ross, 62 Traverse’ on the inside
There is wear on the hoops from pedal rash and where mounts might have been placed. There is some tape on the batter hoop where the pedal attaches
Fitted with Remo Clear PS3 batter with Earthtone reso.
Also included is an original Radio King stamped calf head too
Please see all photos for condition.
** Unfortunately, due to the weight and size of these shells, this kit is for collection only. Collection from West Yorkshire. **
